biron gysin, british artist and writer, was born january 16, 1916 and died july 19, 1986. In addition to his many creative endeavors with sound, words and collage techniques, he invented the dream machine.
The machine is a tubular column punctuated with multiple holes and illuminated with an electric bulb. the column rotates on a turntable apparatus projecting pulsating light - creating a strobe flicker effect.
The inspiration for this device is to induce a hallucinogenic state without using drugs.
